An Ever Changing Work Of Art. Apollo XVII Sand Picture Each piece of art is HANDMADE by Klaus Bosch, a native Austrian. Klaus, (AKA: Sandman) is known as the master of moving sand pictures worldwide. He has been making the Rainbow-Vision Sand Picture since 1988. “The idea of moving sand pictures was born in the early sixties when a couple of art students in California made a research project on kinetic art. One of their outcomes was the sand picture! In the eighties, Klaus started painting with water, pencil and oil. However, he found that to boring. As he strove to find the art technique that would permit him to express his feelings of an ever changing world, his friend introduced a sand picture to Klaus. He said, “Klaus, you will love this.” And, he did! Please enjoy playing and relaxing with your Rainbow-Vision. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q: How does it work? A: Gravity pulls our proprietary blend of fine grained sand through the air bubbles to create a unique 3-D landscape each time. You can regulate the amount of air in the Rainbow Vision which will result in the faster or slower flow of sand. Q: Do you get the same creation of sand each time you turn it over? A: No, each time will be fascinatingly different. Q: How do you attach it to the wall so that you can easily turn it over? A: The wall-unit Rainbow Vision Sand Pictures come with a wall bracket that will allow you to “swivel” the picture 180 degrees and start a new landscape. Q: What if the sand isn’t falling or it is falling to quickly? A: By using the enclosed injector, you can remove air for a faster flow or sand or add air for a slower release of sand through the air bubbles. The results of various sand flows are: Fast= flat dunes, Medium = landscapes, Slow = pyramid peaks. There are two small holes in each Rainbow Vision Sand Pictures to regulate the air. A: Also, to make more fine bubbles, shake the pictures to create to separate the air into smaller bubbles. The smaller the bubbles, the more dramatic the resulting landscapes. A: If unused for several weeks, you might have to shake loose the sand by knocking on the glass to get the sand moving again. Q: Can elevation or change in barometric pressure have an effect? A: Yes, it can expand and contract the air bubbles. If this happens, just adjust the air with the injector. Q: Do I ever need to add water? What kind of water do I need to use? A: Yes, maybe once a year. Due to evaporation, some water will evaporate. We recommend you boil regular tap water, cool this water, then add as necessary. DO NOT remove the water still in your Sand Picture. You will not need to add to much water. Do not over-fill. Q: Will it leak? A: With proper injector usage and normal handling, the water will not leak. However, a little bit could evaporate through the sealant. See above, Do not use a needle other than the provided needle. Q. What happens if the water freezes in my Sand Picture? A. Allow it to thaw normally. The self-healing silicone allows expansion of the Sand Picture. Freezing water won’t harm the artwork. Q: How long will my Rainbow Vision last? A: With proper care and handling, your Rainbow Vision will last many, many years. Q: What comes with my purchase? A: The Rainbow Vision framed piece as well as an injector, wall bracket or table mount (depending on the model), screws, information on the Klaus Bosch (the artist), and a owner’s manual. Q: How are they made? A: Each Rainbow Vision is individually handcrafted in Austria. Klaus Bosch, the inventor and creator, attends to all details to make sure each piece is art grade level. The materials are glass, sand, soapy water, a silicone sealant and a frame. Q: I have noticed I tend to feel better, maybe even less stressed when I enjoy my Rainbow Vision Sand Picture.
