As part of my  series "Jane Austen Portraits",  I created this 5 x 7 watercolor painting one of the most famous portraits of Jane Austen. I re- created this image from a portrait that Jane's sister, Cassandra, painted of her in watercolor.  Cassandra was a gifted watercoloristOne thing that has always struck me about this portrait is how realistic it is. There is some stylistic elements in the curve of her neck. Experts think this is the best example of what Jane Austen actually would have looked like.  This small format art would be a nice compliment to any of my Jane Austen Art Cards (ACEOs)Signed and a Certificate of Authenticity is included. This original work of art is made with PH Martin Dyes watercolor and pencil on 140lb hot pressed smooth watercolor paper.  You can find small frames at most discount frame shops, Target, Kohl's etc. that would fit this piece. Makes a unique gift for anyone you know who loves Jane Austen! About the Artist: I am is a Florida Native now residing in Woodstock, Georgia. I am a Jane Austen fan- definitely not a dabbler but perhaps a tad less than an aficionado. I try my best to keep everything as authentic as possible in my work but please let m know if I have made any mistakes in my research.  I am only human and it can happen! I also paint landscapes of the Southeast, Florida and from my many travels to France and England. I was trained at Rollins College, Florida as an illustrator, then went on to graduate in Painting and Printmaking from Auburn University. My studies inside museums around Europe helped to bring about my passion for painting the human face and I have spent a number of years as a portrait artist.
